"I think it's the best
investment we've
made in our shop.
It's really a small
investment for
such a versatile
money maker.
You don't have
to be a master
craftsman with
miles of skill and
talent, nor does
it have a long
learning curve.
It gives our
business the edge
on our competition
because no one
else is able to offer
the customer the
detail and elegance.
I may sound over
enthusiastic, but
we have built our
business around
our Legacy."

It is impossible to make up a loss on volume. There are different models for creating a business with a competitive edge. Unfortunately, most businesses choose to compete on price. The most obvious problem with this approach is that you are forced to work for less than anybody else. Smaller profit margins also mean that you need to work more to try and stay even. Although this business model can be successful, it more often results in failure. It is simply impossible to make up a loss on volume.

Many successful businesses use a different approach. They have found that the difference is in the details. By offering custom cabinets with fine details they usually sell to a different section of the market. High end usually translates to higher profit margins. But even this model has limitations. In order to offer custom cabinets, many businesses are forced to out-source very expensive components, cutting into their profits and driving up the price for their customers.

Legacy owners have a powerful alternative. They can quickly and easily create impressive custom components in house reducing cost, lead-times and design limitations. making it possible to offer custom cabinets at a price more customers can afford and they still retain higher profits.

August Calderaro put it this way. "Now I can work at 21st century speed while creating a product with territorial charm... I can produce my inspirations at a price my customers can afford."

Most customers are willing to pay much more for custom cabinets that include spindles with spirals, flutes, and reeds as well as one-of-a-king mouldings.

Legacy owner's have found that small details lead to larger profits.
