Tom is one of the contestants that entered our "Win 500 Legacy Bucks" contest that ran from 1 December 2007 through 31 January 2008; he writes:
"I am a full-time professional wood turner, and over the years I have made many items with my Legacy ornamental mill, but for the most part they have been made as components for other people, or they were components of artistic pieces that I did either on a commission basis, or for sale in art galleries.
'This is the first item of furniture that I have ever made for myself, but I have had lots of practice on other people's items from table legs, architechtural items, porch posts, balustrades, bed posts, kitchen island legs, canes, etc., etc.
'I have now decided to concentrate on making some "heirloom" pieces of furniture for my children instead of spending all my available time making components for mill houses, custom furniture makers, and antique restorers. I still do ply that trade, but I no longer seek additional new customers.
I am not very adept with a computer, or a camera, and feel a lot more comfortable with a chisel in my hand than either of them. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you need anything further."
